Self Branding is a Learned Skill

One of the biggest takeaways from this class for me would be that of self-branding. Branding isn’t just for celebrities, but people working every day jobs should also worry how they brand themselves online. Employers, friends, and family will always be able to find you on the internet and making sure that your story is clear everywhere can save you a lot of headaches.

Before, branding was something I thought I didn’t have to worry about. I mean, I uses social media every day, but my posts are few and far between. When tends to happen with people my age is that one form of social media will be family friendly while another will be quite the opposite. I am guilty. My Instagram could be rated with a golden star, while I tend be more open with my thoughts on Twitter. But now, I’ve really taken a look at my Twitter to see what I could change.

You never really know who is looking at you online and on social media. You want to make the right impression to everyone and that’s something this class has really forced me to pay attention to.

Now, it’s not going to change overnight. But I have already started to scrub my social media accounts to help clean up my image everywhere. Going forward, I can be a lot more mindful about what I post and make sure that I am constantly representing the best version of myself.
